Pureen Kids Toothpaste is designed for young children who are still learning to brush, typically from the toddler years onwards, when first teeth come through. Because it’s fluoride-free, SLS-free and saccharin-free, parents have peace of mind during the early brushing years, when kids tend to swallow a little toothpaste. Fluoride is widely used in adult and older-child toothpastes for cavity prevention. However, when young children swallow too much fluoride during the years when their teeth are still forming, it can cause dental fluorosis, a defect in the tooth enamel. Pureen Kids Toothpaste takes a different approach: it supports tooth health using Xylitol and Triple Calcium & Phosphate for remineralisation, without the fluoride risk for swallow-prone little ones. As children grow older and learn to spit, your dentist may recommend transitioning to a fluoride toothpaste.

Xylitol is a natural sweetener that gives the toothpaste a kid-friendly taste. Unlike sugar or saccharin, it doesn’t feed the bacteria that cause tooth decay. Some research also suggests Xylitol can help reduce decay-causing bacteria in the mouth over time.

Remineralisation is the natural process where minerals like calcium and phosphate are deposited back into the tooth enamel after acid attacks from food and bacteria. Pureen Kids Toothpaste contains Triple Calcium & Phosphate to support this process, helping protect against decay and keep teeth strong.

SLS is the detergent that makes regular toothpaste foam up. It can dry out the protective mucus lining inside the mouth, which may contribute to mouth ulcers, which are already common in kids. We leave it out so brushing stays comfortable, even for little ones with sensitive mouths.

A pea-sized amount on a soft kids’ toothbrush is plenty for daily brushing. For very young toddlers, a smear is often enough. Children under 8 typically need adult supervision to make sure they reach every tooth.

The 40 g is a great travel size or for a first try. The 75 g is the everyday family size, more economical for brushing twice a day.
